“It was fun. The hall of mirrors was definitely the highlight for me. The staff were polite and everything ran smoothly. While the activities were enjoyable, I expected the museum to be a bit bigger and offer more variety for the 50 lei entrance fee. Maintenance was decent. Still, if you are looking for something light-hearted and a bit different, it’s worth a visit.”

★★★★★★★★★★4.6 · 52 reviews · 1 day · from $10

Review of Bucharest’s Museum of Communism, with hands-on exhibits, English help, and a cup of 1980s nechezol coffee.

“A nice small private museum in the old town, 45 min to 1 hour, good for a quick stop. Probably more fun with others than solo as there are photo ops, dressing up, music etc. Very interactive. Some of the text felt simplistic and described things that were very normal everywhere in the 1950s-1990s as being evils of communism. They could maybe do with a more expert or broadly expert historian on staff. Communist coffee was a very fun novelty and quite tasty, I can't tell the difference between it and Nescafe but I am not a conniseur at all! Toilet facilities clean, nice small bar area, no gift shop.”

“This was amazing. I purchased this for my husband’s birthday. He & I love to learn about the history of the different places where we travel to. Romania has such an interesting and varied history. Catalina was our host and tour guide. Her knowledge brought all the exhibits to life. We learned so much and in the very best way, with personal stories as well as a wealth of knowledge she shared with us. There were no questions that weren’t answered. The food and drinks after the tour just tied everything together. A shout out to Luca for providing us with a great sampling of Romanian cuisine. They even gave…”
